Hid Xenon Kits
All Categories
HID Technology. REAL Xenon bulbs. Our 50w kit is brighter than a 35w kit.
High Intensity Discharge Lighting, or Gas Discharge Lights.
We are a supplier, distributor and retailer of automotive Xenon light conversion kits and HID lighting in Sydney.
The colour of our light kit output is 6000 kelvin, which is a superior crisp, white light (known as sky blue). Very close to daylight! 6500 kelvin is regarded as daylight.
Xenon lights are a $1,000 or more option on some prestige cars.
These easy to fit conversion kits replace your existing halogen bulb with a Xenon bulb. Plug in the ballast and you are almost done.
Our kits come complete, with 2 bulbs, 2 sealed ballasts, 2 brackets, fitting kit, all wiring looms and instructions. Simple to fit, less than 1 hour for most vehicles.
With our kits you do not even have to cut or modify your original wiring harness.
Our kits simply plug into your original headlight sockets, H4 kits also need 2 wires connected to the battery for the relay, (all parts supplied).
If you sell your car and want to keep your HID kit, simply remove the kit and re-fit your dull boring pale yellow halogens.
35 watt Xenon HID lights give approximately 3 times more light than halogen. 50 watt kits are better still.
You will notice an immediate increase in the light output and the light colour.
See roadside reflectors further up the road. Much better in the rain, etc, etc, etc. Less road fatigue on long trips.
HID bulbs have a life of around 3,500 hours, about 10 times more than a halogen bulb.
We carry 50w conversion kits, bulbs and ballasts for H1, H3, H4, H7, H11, 9005 and 9006 headlights.
As Xenon bulbs take several seconds to illuminate from cold, HID lights are not suitable for flashing on and off, ie high beam, unless you tend to drive in country areas where your high beam spends more time on than off. Once hot though, these lights do come back on very quickly.
Spare HID bulbs and HID ballast may be available but must be matched to your light kit. Some cheaper ebay type kits have no spare parts available for them.
Up to 1 year warranty available.
Kits start at around $150:00
Note that HID bulbs run cooler than Halogen bulbs. The ballasts tend to get warm, but not hot.
Check your headlight aim yourself: On high-beam there should be 4" dip over 25'. Convert to metric if you are able to.
*****
I have personally fitted a 35watt HID kit to my Ford Fairmont AUI. I had to remove the battery to get access to the driver's side headlight.
I fitted the driver's side ballast in the bracket provided with the kit, then the new Xenon bulb simply went in where the halogen bulb came out of.
I then ran the wiring loom (supplied) over the radiator cowl through the brackets to the passenger's side and completed that side just as easily.
As these are H4H/L (high and low beam) I fitted the relay supplied in the kit, 2 earths and 1 power lead, and re-assembled my car.
All I had to do was enter the radio code and reset my clock! Total time taken: 40 minutes.
HID lights flash on from cold, then dim down, then the brightness increases to "wow" in the next 4 or 5 seconds. THIS IS NORMAL OPERATION!!!
During this time they seem slightly blue-ish, but the longer they stay on the whiter they appear. Don't forget, our kits are 6,000 kelvin.
These 35w HID lights are so much brighter than the old halogen + 50's, and I found that now I could barely see my instrument panel, so I had to turn my dash lights up to see the speedo.
I can now see MUCH further down the road, the road-side reflectors and cats-eyes are much more visible, and the painted lines sparkle.
They are better in the rain, and yes, I have now tried them in thick fog. All the reports say they are impressive there too, and they are!
I have my wife's LandCruiser lined up next!
I would never go back to halogen.
Turn these babies on !!!
Well in fact I have now transformed my wife's LandCruiser. It is an 80 series FZJ80R. This was a little harder to do than my Ford. Those of you out there who have replaced a headlight globe on one of these know that Toyota's idea of bulb retainers was a poor choice. That ring is near impossible to re-fit! The new HID bulb base is plastic, so it is thicker than the old metal base. I could not get the ring back on so I had to remove the passenger side headlight to fit the new HID base. This worked out well because, as you know, there is a rubber boot at the back of the headlight. The boot was too thick to let the HID bulb fit in, so I cut the inner part of the seal away to reduce the thickness. It now fits OK and it still keeps water and dirt out.
I re-fitted the headlight, fitted the ballast and relay, ran the wiring to the driver's side, fitted base, bulb and ballast there, plugged everything in, and tested it.
WOW. These are brighter than my FORD lights. They took an extra couple of seconds to come up to full brightness (10 seconds).
These 50 watt kits use around 40% more power than the 35 watt kits, but still 9% less power than the standard 55 watt halogens. What a difference !!!
Turn these 50 watt babies on !!!
While on high-beam I have noticed that the beam is not ideal, it tends to spread, but there is still way more light out there than the old halogens. Also, I tend to see white road and yellow trees. I should fit HID to the high beams. Low beam is perfect.
Note. According to the RTA rules, if you are fitting these to a road registered motor vehicle you need to have some sort of cleaning mechanism fitted. Washer jets just like your windshield washers will do. Simply fit them to the front bumper and hook them up to your washers with a "T" piece.
Recommended for off road use or rallying etc.
If you are building a new car you also need to fit: a; self-levelling headlights, and/or b; self levelling suspension.
